Sing Ukulele Lesson

The is a bonus groove to practice muting and dynamics. It mixes the backbeat accent with accents on the chords to create a single rhythm line based on multiple textures. Here are the layers.

The final groove is this:
1  & 2  & 3  & 4  & | 1  & 2 &  3 & 4 &
D  x X  x x x  X U D x  X x x x X  x

There are basically two layers: the chords and the muting. It’s almost like you
are the guitar and the drums at the same time!

Chord Layer - Play the chords loud!
1  & 2  & 3  & 4  & | 1  & 2 &  3 & 4 &
D                    U D

Backbeat Drum Layer
1  & 2  & 3  & 4  & | 1  & 2 &  3 & 4 &
x  x X  x x x  X x x x  X x x x X  x

Notice that the downbeat (the 1) is accented in the chords and the backbeat is
accented in the melody. Try it once without the accents and then focus
on making the small mutes as small as you can!

1  & 2  & 3  & 4  & | 1  & 2 &  3 & 4 &
D  X X  X X X  X U D X  X X X X X
