3-2 Rhythms

This will be a series of lesson on a basic rhythmic concept that shows up in most styles of music that have rhythm. It is the idea that many rhythmic phrases can be best understood as a mixture of groups of 3 and 2 notes of a pulse. This concept gets expressed and embodied many ways, but thinking this way makes understanding and playing a lot of tricky rhythms much easier, and it’s a ground for exploring a lot of cool new ideas in creative rhythm.
